A Holistic Approach to Family Therapy
Creating Safe and Reflective Spaces
As a Family Therapist (sometimes referred to as a Systemic Psychotherapist), I am dedicated to creating safe, reflective spaces where individuals and families can explore their relationships with themselves, others, and the world around them.
Connecting Mind, Body, and Nature
Part of my therapeutic approach involves helping family members connect with both their bodies and minds in nature, offering a holistic space for reflection and healing.
Understanding Unique Histories
I deeply value and consider the unique histories and backgrounds of each person I work with. My approach fosters an understanding of how lived experiences influence thoughts, feelings, and behaviour patterns. By considering past experiences, the present context, and future aspirations, I work collaboratively with clients to agree on shared goals for therapy.
Tailoring Therapy to Individual Needs
I adapt my approach to meet the specific needs of each individual and family I support. Working with genuine curiosity, sensitivity, and care, I aim to respect and incorporate what matters most to those I work with. Sessions are flexible, and I draw upon a variety of tools – such as music, books, art, dance, photography, film, nature, animals, food, sport, play, movement, and drawing – to keep individuals and families engaged.
Fostering a Comfortable and Fun Environment
I enjoy co-creating fun environments where people feel comfortable and supported enough to learn and grow together. I believe that we are better able to absorb new information and behaviours when we feel calm and comfortable, and this is always my priority during sessions.
Supporting Calm and Positive Change
I help families explore what brings them calm and peace, experimenting with relaxation, body movement, creativity, music, meditation, play, and other tools that promote individual or co-regulation. Together, we create bespoke plans for positive change, tailored to suit your unique needs.
